Steffi is Assistant Professor in the Building Physics research group of the Unit Building Physics and Services (BPS) in the Department of the Built Environment at TU/e. Her research focuses on heat, air, and mass transport in the urban environment, with the goal of improving the resilience, safety, and sustainability of cities. She has worked on a wide range of wind-related challenges, including flow over complex terrain, the physical simulation of tornadoes, pollutant dispersion in urban and maritime environments, aerodynamics of crops and trees, and vehicle and cycling aerodynamics. Across these projects, her work contributes to reducing risks from extreme weather, mitigating air pollution and enhancing urban comfort.

Steffi holds a BSc and MSc in Meteorology from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and completed her PhD in Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2018. During her doctoral studies, she undertook a research visit at Western University (Canada) and was awarded the JURC Fellowship, enabling her to conduct research at the Wind Engineering Research Center at Tokyo Polytechnic University (Japan) and to collaborate with leading groups in Wind Engineering.

In 2018, Steffi joined Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands) as Senior Researcher and Operational Manager of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel. In 2024, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Building Physics research group.
