Academic background

Martijn de Kok received the BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering (both cum laude) from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2018 and 2020, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (cum laude) at TU/e in 2025.

In 2019 he was a visiting student at the Advanced RF & Optical Technologies group of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena (NASA JPL, CalTech). From September 2021 to February 2025 he was also a guest researcher at the Radar Technology Group of TNO Defense, Safety and Security in The Hague, as part of his PhD. In 2025 he joined TNO as a Scientist. His research interests include phased arrays and integrated antenna systems for millimeter-wave and high-power wireless applications including radar sensing, communications and space.

Education and Teaching

Lecturer in the Automotive Sensing course since 2021, teaching several radar topics for third-year bachelor students. Topics include radar signal processing, waveform design, FMCW-radar systems, phased arrays and MIMO radar.

Research profile

Martijn de Kok is a guest researcher in the Electromagnetics group at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and a scientist at the Radar Technology department at TNO Defense, Safety and Security. His field of research is the integration between electronic-beamforming antennas and amplifiers for millimeter-wave communication and sensing applications, including satellite communication and radar sensing at Ka-band (26.5-40 GHz) and D-band (110-170 GHz).
