Samenvatting

The essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts of Ort/wdon calvetiei Level. growing wild in Vietnam was analyzed by a combination of GC and GC/M S. This oil was found to contain ~-caryophyllene (20.3%), ~-bisabolene (15.6%), cis-a-bergamotene (11.1%), a-humulene (10.3%), a- and ~-asarone (8.2% and 8.6%, respectively) as the major components. More than 30 other compounds have been identified as well.
