    Samenvatting

Social open innovation requires profit and non-profit organisations to collaborate to create solutions beyond their current scope. Current approaches for business model design are mostly based on rather simple value propositions for linear supply chains. Social innovation is typically an activity in a dynamic network of parties. This results in higher complexity. This paper focuses on how to design business models in social open innovation. This not only includes the definition of needs of various stakeholders beyond the direct product attributes; the values. It also requires the combination of these various types of values into one overview to be able to check the feasibility and attractiveness of the value model on the longer term. A new approach was developed and implemented in 5 social open innovation projects. The approach provides insight in the evaluation of the sustainability of the innovation, and insight in value flow modelling for social open innovation.
