Title: Translation in innovation The process of technological innovation is an intricate interplay between people of different backgrounds and perspectives: scientists, technologists, application experts, and business people. An innovation process may sometimes appear erratic and look like a complex game of dealing with uncertainties. But there is also clear logic in how people of different backgrounds interact, how activities translate between disciplines, and in stages of maturity. In this talk I will present a matrix description that elucidates the role of people in translational processes and illustrates what is constant and what is changing.
