Samenvatting

In bulk and thin films the block copolymers may form ordered domains with alternating segments of the resp. blocks resulting in changes in material modulus, strength or surface properties. For the systematic study of block copolymer self-organization, libraries of diblock copolymers with systematic variation in compn. as well as d.p. of the blocks are desired. Here, we report on the formation of block copolymers in which the blocks are linked through a bis-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine-metal(II) complexes. By using ruthenium ions, metallo-supramol. block copolymerlibraries can be formed from a small no. of starting materials. Starting from terpyridine functionalized AB-type diblock copolymers sym. AB-BA tetrablock copolymers are obtained. Here we report a study into the morphol. of metallo-supramol. blockcpolymer systems. We use the mean-field DDFT to predict the morphol. and we use microscopic techniques to study the polymer organization. Nanoindentation is utilized to asses the changes in material properties.
