Samenvatting

Photovoltaic systems convert solar energy into useful electric energy with a specific efficiency. The various energy loss mechanisms that play a role in the conversion process have been identified in this report. Furthermore, three procedures have been assessed on their applicability for the determination of the energy losses in grid connected PV systems: (1) the JRC (Joint Research Centre) guideline, (2) Data analysis, and (3) Technical and Economic Analysis of Monitored grid-connected PV systems performed by means of Simulation (TEAMS). The assessment has been carried out using the PV noise barrier along the A27-highway as a test case. The main conclusion is that the JRC guideline results in little information on the various loss mechanisms and that both the Data analysis and TEAMS can be used to quantify the loss mechanisms in a fairly detailed way. 13 refs
