The concept of activity-based mode s was introduced as an a ternative to existing trip-based and tour-based mode s a few decades ago. Potentia y, activity-based mode s are ab e to predict individua s' secondary responses, i.e. reschedu ing of activities, as we as primary responses to changes in transport and and-use systems. In addition, the mode s are sensitive to changes affecting the time budgets of peop e. Litt e is known about the extent to which activity-based mode s come up to this promise.
