Samenvatting

The chronotropic effect of ATP and Adenosine in a relatively low concentration (2 · 10–5 M) was studied on isolated rat hearts before and after removing the S-A node. In the complete heart these substances showed a slight or no negative chronotropic effect on the S-A node. There was no obvious effect on the A-V conduction. After cutting off the S-A node these substances had a very strong inhibitory effect on the automatic function of the A-V node. In equimolecular as well as higher amounts (10–4 M) the hypoxanthine derivatives Inosine, IMP, IDP and ITP did not show any effect neither on the S-A node nor on the A-V node.
