Samenvatting

Cashew production not only holds a significant role in global agriculture but is also an industry in constant growth. From cashew plantations, half the production represents the edible nuts, while the other half comprises shell residues with promising value. Extracting valuable compounds from these shells is challenging and a subject of research. Isabella Arenas, in her EngD project in Process and Product Design, embraced the challenge of designing a process to purify the cashew nutshell liquid, aiming to recover a quality and quantity of valuable compounds with enthusiasm through the combination of experimentation and simulations.
