Samenvatting

Poly(4-hydroxy-3,5-diphenyl isocyanide) was prepd. and oxidized to give the corresponding stable 4-oxyl radical. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicated no evidence for ferromagnetism or any other short-range ordering among unpaired spins at 77-320 K for the polymer radical. A spin d. of 0.8 spin/repeating unit was measured. ESR spectroscopy indicated that the radical was a paramagnet at both 4 and 320 K. [on SciFinder (R)]
