Samenvatting

We report the synthesis and characterization of a family of supramolecularly modified polyethylene glycol (PEG) materials. A variety of ureidopyrimidinone (UPy) based supramol. bonding units were incorporated into various mol. wts. of PEG creating an assortment of novel telechelic materials. Bulk characterization via thermal anal. and AFM have revealed high-melting hard phases created by endgroup assocn. for many low mol. wt. materials. Further chem. modification of UPy endgroups allowed for water soly. and prodn. of elastic, optically transparent hydrogels. Rheol. characterization and CryoTEM expts. will also be discussed.
