Samenvatting

In this paper an imaging radar based upon simultaneous multi-mode with high resolution 2D direction of arrival estimation is presented. The high angular resolution is obtained by using 4 cascaded ICs (TEF82xx) with a total number of 12 TXs and 16 RXs and a S32R45 processor, leading to a real-time, fully functional radar system with 1.6°/1.8° azimuth/elevation physical resolution, a wide angular coverage and a long sensing distance. The multi-mode operation is realized by interleaving waveforms from three radar configurations in time. This ensures a low latency system while maintaining superior Doppler resolution. Transmit antennas, optimized for different Field of Views, are used to reduce the radar power consumption.
