Samenvatting

To reduce high computational cost associated with simulations of turbulent reacting flows chemistry tabulation methods such as Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) are commonly used. In this study accuracy of low-dimensional FGM databases were analyzed using unsteady non-premixed flamelets to predict temperature and important species such as NO in MILD combustion. These flamelets were simulated using detailed chemistry and transport models where the recirculation of products is used to preheating and diluting of them. Influence of mixing and molecular transport on chemical kinetics was analyzed. Finally the reduced chemical model has been built using the most computationally efficient controlling variables.
