Samenvatting

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) is a construction material with a large range of applications. The incorporation and immobilization of waste materials into AAC opens up a full range of possibilities, especially due to the hydrothermal treatment of the material which leads to a complete phase transformation. Glass fines from municipal waste glass collection are such materials. This research is the second part of a study of the replacement possibility of glass in AAC. While the first part focused on physical and structural properties, the focus for this part is on microstructural analysis to conclude and to verify the previous study. The investigation is conducted under semi-industrial conditions in order to consider technological parameters. The glass powder is beneficial for the AAC process: for example, at a replacement level of 40 % quartz by glass the strength increased by up to 35 %.
