Samenvatting
The heat capacity of (C5H5NH)MnCl3 (PMCA) and (C5H5NH)NiCl3 (PNCA) has been measured for 1.5 K < T < 50 K. Three-dimensional ordering is observed at T = 2.315 K for PMCA and T = 1.710 K for PNCA. Both compounds display highly 1d magnetic behavior. For PMCA an intrachain interaction J/k = -6.5 K is found; for PNCA J/k = 3.5 K, combined with an easy-plane single-ion anisotropy D/k = -10 K.
