Samenvatting
Very intense corona discharges can be produced with pulsed high voltage. In a wire cylinder geometry we studied this peculiar type of corona which behaves very differently from DC corona. Interacting with the circuit, the high intensity discharge of up to 100 A behaves well in a wide voltage range without full breakdown. The increased breakdown voltage and the additionalpossibilities offered by the pulsed mode are attractive in applications with high’gas temperature, breakdown/flashover problems, contami nation and strongly varying conditions.
