Samenvatting

This paper investigates a novel form of periodic operation, named pulsed activation. In this concept the catalyst is heated selectively and quickly. Therefore the temperature of the catalytic surface is pulsed at greater frequencies and amplitudes than have been reported before. A setup is described which is capable of producing ultrafast temperature pulses. The effect of temperature pulsing on the carbon monoxide oxidation and hydrogen oxidation reactions is presented.
