During the copolymn. of styrene and maleic anhydride at high temps., (>100 DegC) oligomer formation occurs. The oligomers (mainly dimers and trimers) are cyclic or contain one unsatn. The oligomers are not formed by the regular Diels-Alder reaction, which underlies the formation of oligomers in other styrene polymn
