Samenvatting

The NMR spectra of the cyclohexadienyl anion and of the cyclooctadienyl anion (I) were studied. The strongly bent anion I shows at low temps. reversible line broadening. At higher temps. I electrocyclizes to the bicyclo[3.3.0]octenyl anion. In neither of these anions there is substantial 1,5 overlap (homoaromaticity). [on SciFinder (R)]
