Samenvatting

The applications of cholesteric texture liquid crystal display (CTLCD) for portables were discussed. The appications of CTLCD for portable are attractive optical appearance, wide viewing angle and fast response. A versatile display-driving tool was constructed for bistable cholesteric displays to demonstrate very fast display updates. The CTLC technology for better optical performance, faster addressing at lower voltage, low power consumption and possible routes to near video speed was also elaborated.
