title = "Micromechanical modelling of soft tissues using the finite element method",
abstract = "A mixed numerical/experimental method is used to determine the elastic orthotropic 2D properties of skin. The method involves the modelling of skin's inhomogeneous properties over the domain of the specimen, corresponding to the Langer's lines of skin. The comparison between a measured displacement field on the skin surface and the outcome of a finite element model, leads to quantitative values of the material parameters. Primary results, based on linear orthotropic models, are satisfactory and stimulate further research",
