    Samenvatting

    The particle dimensions of the dispersed phase in polystyrene (I) [9003-53-6] blends with polyethylene [9002-88-4] contg. ethylene-styrene graft copolymer (II) [25068-12-6] were strongly influenced by the viscosity of the molten blend and the concn. of II. The Young's modulus of the I blends as a function of the vol. fraction of added II and of homopolymers could be used as a tool for estn. of the no. of phases and of the morphol., as studied by optical and electronoptical means. The mechanism of impact fracture, crazing and shearing, correlated well with the morphol. obsd
