Samenvatting

Mössbauer experiments are reported on two magnetic chain compounds. Estimates of the crystal field splittings and the sign of V_zz are presented. The temperature dependence of the hyperfine field fits well by the 2D S = 1 2 rectangular Ising model. The low temperature value and orientation of the hyperfine field are discussed.
