Samenvatting

Laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy has been employed for the diagnostics for phenols in an aqueous solution under pulsed corona discharges. The temporal variation of the phenol concentration was measured during the degradation processes by the pulsed corona discharges. With the decrease in the phenol concentration, the LIP spectra of di- and tri-hydroxybenzenes were also observed. This implies that phenols are first converted into di- and tri-hydroxybenzenes by the attachment of OH radicals.
