In the Netherlands the cavity wall is a widely used structure. Due to Dutch building concepts, the cavity wall is usually no part of the load bearing structure. Therefore, the principle loads for these walls are wind pressure and dead load and consequently the texural bond strength is an important parameter. To predict the ultimate load of cavity walls by numerical simulation or global analytical models, the influence of the angle T between bending axes and bed joint on the flexural strength, has to be known. A model for the determination of the uni-axial flexural strength is described. The model considers all possible crack-patterns. The model is explained and the influence of some important parameters on the behaviour of the model is investigated.
