Samenvatting

CSE-Engineering Center of Safety Excellence GmbH is a specialized consultancy company dedicated to process and plant safety.1 Based in Pfinztal, Germany, the company provides risk management and expert engineering solutions in safety device sizing, process safety consulting, and digital engineering services. With a strong focus on regulatory compliance and technical innovation, CSE-Engineering supports many industrial clients in ensuring their safety systems are both compliant and optimized for efficiency.
A key component of the company’s digital solutions is CSE PROSaR, a web-based software designed for the calculation and review (verification) of safety devices. Unlike most of the simple safety device sizing software, CSE PROSaR is developed with a strong focus on thermodynamically reasonable calculations of flow through pressure relief systems.1 The software enables engineers to size safety valves and rupture disks in accordance with the latest safety regulations.
To further enhance its capabilities, CSE-Engineering is developing new functional modules for PROSaR, driven by customer feedback and industry demands. This paper details with the development and integration of new modules into CSE PROSaR to enhance mass flow relief and pressure drop calculations in safety systems. The process follows a structured approach: identifying relevant scenarios, testing mathematical models in Mathcad, implementing them in C++ within the existing PROSaR framework, and concluding with testing and validation to ensure compliance with international safety standards and proposed functionality.
