Samenvatting

A review. An elegant way to produce catalytic microreactors is by applying a coating of zeolite crystals onto a micro-structured substrate. The prepn. methods, including substrate modifications, are reviewed and illustrated with a no. of particular examples. There exists a narrow range of prepn. conditions (alky., ionic strength, temp. and heating rate) leading to zeolite coating formation rather than to homogeneous crystn. The progress made in understanding the fundamental mechanisms that control the growth of the zeolitic coatings is presented. Potential application fields are discussed.
