Samenvatting
Extended from the "hosting capacity" concept, “hosting capacity region” (HCR) defines a feasible region in the combined operational space given by the involved energy units. To maximize the grid utility, through synchronized operation referring to the HCR, the network is capable of hosting more units immediately. Meanwhile, the HCR assessment is challenging, and the existing studies are constrained in the distribution network domain. To broaden the applicability of HCR, this paper aims to develop HCR assessment techniques suitable for the transmission network. Moreover, utilizing random polytope approximation, an early acceleration scheme is designed to further improve the assessment performance. By employing a benchmark testing case, we conduct the computational performance analysis from both accuracy and complexity perspectives. The consequent HCR assessment accuracy loss reaches as low as 1.40%, and the early acceleration scheme contributes to 21.22% computation time reduction. These findings have validated the efficacy of the proposed HCR computation methods eventually.
