Samenvatting

Using perfluorinated polymer-based GI-POF, a transmission experiment achieving a record distance of 990 meters is reported. The experiment is carried out at a wavelength of 840 nm, using a Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser in the transmitter and a Silicon Avalanche Photodiode in the receiver. The bit rate of the transmission system is 1.25 Gbit/s, which is used for Gigabit Ethernet applications.
