Samenvatting

There is a tendency to use aluminium as structural material in heavily loaded structures. In a number of these structures, the resistance to fire should be considered in the structural design. Because of the low melting temperature of aluminium, aluminium structures are sensitive to fire and extra attention of the designer is required in this area. Eurocode 9 Part 1-2, gives rules on structural fire design of aluminium structures. This paper gives an overview of (gaps in) knowledge on fire exposed aluminium structures. KIt is shown that the values on the 0,2% proof stress in fire in the abobe mentioned standard are unsafe, and that the rules for stability of members are conservative.
