Samenvatting

Cinnamomum bejolghota (Buch-Ham.) Sweet (formerly known as C. obtusi folium Roxb. ex Nees) is a secondary host plant for the muga silk worm (Antheraea assama Wlw). The leaves of this plant were collected from the Jorhat and Sibsagar districts in Assam, India, and hydrodistilled to extract the essential oils. The composition of the oils was investigated by GC and GCIMS. The oils were found to contain more than 67and 41 compounds, respectively. The major constituents appeared to be linalool (35.8% and 52.2%), 1,8-cineole (14.3% and 6.0%) and bicyclogermacrene (9.9% and 6.6%).
