Samenvatting

In the poster presented at Sunday 2013 BIPV module efficiency as a function of back-string ventilation is presented based on monitoring of a field study. The field study consists of a realized rooftop with 24 PV modules in 4 strings with differing amounts of backside ventilation in ‘The District of Tomorrow’, in the Dutch climate. Results show that the effect of integration of PV in the building envelope, minimising material consumption and the collateral reduction of backside ventilation on the efficiency of PV system is minimal. Side effects are high temperatures, possibly affecting the lifespan of the installation and high relative humidity levels in poorly ventilated strings, leading to possible condensation in the structure.
