Samenvatting

Radio over Fiber (RoF) based IEEE 802.11x (where x can be a, b, g, n, ac) Fiber Wireless (Fi-Wi) LANs are being thought of as a better solution towards deployment of Enterprise WLAN. It provides optimized load distribution among Access Points (APs) and also better efficient power management of the overall network. In most of the existing works about WLAN deployments, the classical models characterizing the throughput achievable discusses about either single collision solutions where simultaneous transmissions are not allowed or multi cell Enterprise WLANs where the simultaneous transmission are the most predominant feature. But RoF based WLANs because of its inherent architectural design has a different structure. In this paper we want to characterize the downlink throughput that is achievable in such a RoF based Fi-Wi network. The placement of the Cell Access Nodes (CANs) which are simple antennas located indoor to radiate the radio signals is an important factor as well as the connectivity between different CANs and the APs located at the Home Communication Controller (HCC). We analytically provide an upper bound on the difference between the maximum and minimum downlink throughput achievable by an AP in such RoF based Fi-Wi network.
