Samenvatting
A double staining method using both osmium tetraoxide and ruthenium tetraoxide was applied to the morphology observation of high-impact polystyrene(HIPS)/ABS resin blend by transmission electron microscopy. Polybutadiene rubber particles and each matrix composed of polystyrene and styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer could be clearly distinguished by this method. The staining mechanism was elucidated by X-ray spectra and elemental images on scanning transmission electron micrographs.
