Samenvatting

Nowadays, the increased amount of CO2 emissions that released to the atmosphere due to the construction has concerned the building society. Hence, an alternative building approach is imperative in order to alter this situation. Therefore, the production, transportation and use of the building materials should be revised and sustainability has to play a significant role to the upcoming building designs.
The goal of this project is to show that sustainable, natural and locally sourced bio-based materials can substitute the conventional building materials on different types of structures.
This report is part of the PDEng trainership in Eindhoven University of Technology. Therefore, this report contains the development and design of abio-based pavilion that will be constructed in order to investigate the structural behavior of the bio-based materials. This pavilion will be made completely out of a new bio-based material which has been developed by the company Millvision B.V. It also designed to can be transportable and moved from location to location.
First of all, this new bio-based materials will be tested on TU/e laboratory to determine the mechanical properties of the material. Furthermore, when the mechanical properties are known, an innovative sustainable and efficient design of a pavilion will be produced. After that, the pavilion is designed and checked for its structural integrity. Finally, sensors will be placed to the structure at a later phase of the design in order to record any changes of the initial condition of the structure.
