Samenvatting

In this study the diagnostic accuracy (ex-vivo) of core biopsies and cytological punctures was evaluated to classify renal tumors. Diagnostic accuracy of core biopsies was high, mostly in the detection of malignancy. Diagnostic accuracy for cytological punctures was relatively low, because pathologists are less familiar with the cytological aspects of kidney tumors. Despite the direct visualisation of the kidney tumor, some biopsies and punctures were non-diagnostic.
