Samenvatting

In signal cables, such as a pair of wires or a coaxial cable, the authors distinguish between two different circuits. The `differential mode' (DM) circuit usually carries the desired signal currents, back and forth within the cable. Interference currents frequently flow in the `common mode' (CM) circuit which closes outside the cable via far away grounds or through capacitances. An important parameter is the transfer impedance which describes the coupling between CM and DM circuit. Means to reduce the transfer impedance are discussed
