Samenvatting
A novel approach -based on electrical transient currents- is used to characterise the conductance process of a charging agent. Charging agents provide the charge on pigments used in electrophoretic displays, but also introduce ions in the solution. This is investigated by accurate transient current measurements in micro-cells. Satisfactory quantitative agreement is achieved with a continuum model of migration and diffusion. And, physical values for concentration, charge and mobility of the ions are obtained.
