Samenvatting

This report describes the architecture and implementation of a new computer vision platform for the guidance of robotic packaging machines. After an introduction and a presentation of the context, the initial system architecture, general needs, current limitations and new needs are detailed, along with the resulting requirements. Modifications of the initial system architecture are proposed, as well as a new software architecture. An overview is given of the investigated solutions and their selection. Further, the implementation is explained in details, including the technical solutions to recognize and segment products and to determine which ones can be picked.
The results are then discussed in terms of system verification, validation and the overall contribution to the company. Suggestions for further work and improvement are given.
The report concludes with a review of the project management and the learning points in perspective of the PDEng program.
