Samenvatting

Combined IM/FSK modulation format for payload/label encoding is a promising technique for optical label switching in IP-over-WDM networks. Agile wavelength tunable laser sources are a key component for flexible WDM networking being used for contention resolution at core routers in combination with wavelength conversion. We report on the experimental demonstration of the generation of combined IM/FSK modulation format at 100 Mbit/s and 10 Gbit/s respectively by using a grating assisted coupler sampled reflector (GSCR) tunable laser sources. We also report on successful FSK label insertion using a SOA-MZI wavelength converter
