Samenvatting

Acarological investigations of mattress dust and house floor dust of three cottages (two new and one old) at a center for asthmatic children showed that one season is not enough for a complete colonisation of mattresses with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. Covering of the mattresses with a plastic sheet was successful in preventing the colonisation of the mattresses in the experimental period. The floors of the new cottages became infested only after the houses were occupied by the human inhabitants.
