Samenvatting
This PhD project studies the quality of career guidance conversations in vocational education and training. In vocational education and training, teachers are increasingly expected to guide the career development of students, for example by guiding students with the use of personal development plans or portfolios, but also by having career guidance conversations.
This PhD project investigates which criteria can be developed for the quality of these conversations, on basis of an empirical and theoretical study. After that, we will investigate (with qualitative and quantitative methods) if these quality criteria are present in the practice of vocational education, and how these conversations influence the development of career competences and vocational identity of the students. Finally, guidelines will be formulated with practical implications for enhancing the quality of career guidance conversations in vocational education and training.
