    Samenvatting

A novel process is being developed for the catalytic polymerization of olefins in supercritical carbon dioxide (sc CO2), for which potential applications will mainly be in the production of EPDM and other elastomers. For this purpose, the Brookhart catalyst has been tested for the homopolymerization of 1-hexene and ethylene in sc CO2 as well as for the copolymerization of ethylene with methyl acrylate, yielding high molecular weight polymers. The results emphasize that the catalyst is effective in scCO2 and no mass transfer limitations occur.
