title = "Carbothermal preparation of Si2N2O powder",
abstract = "At temperatures 1400 - 1450 °C silicon oxynitride powder can be produced from silica/carbon mixtures with a molar ratio 2/3 under a nitrogen flow. The conversion rate is considerably exhanced by the presence of oxide additions like CaO, BaO and SrO, which form a liquid phase with silica at the reaction temperature. The lowest temperature at which Si2N2O was observed was 1350 °C, consistent with recent thermodynamic data.",
