Samenvatting
Explorations of society through architecture and urbanism has a long tradition in the TU/e’s graduation projects, and this year’s selection of the best graduation projects only takes that questioning further. Beyond formal considerations, these projects problematize the very notion of what architecture and urbanism are and question how they should contribute to a brave new world. Either by fostering new forms of community, proposing radical ways to engage with nature, or by envisioning new data-driven organizational structures, these projects reveal the imagination that a new generation is already unleashing to shape the world.
Regardless of their particular ambition, all these projects dare to explore new possibilities and question both the meaning and purpose of architecture and urbanism in an ever-changing contemporary world. While most seem to challenge conventional notions of form, function, or aesthetics, they all stimulate our curiosity, our imagination, and, hopefully, our critical thinking. In their various ways, all projects reconsider the age-old discussion of architecture’s ethical, political, and philosophical implications in relation to society, culture, or even history, and we are all better for it."
