Samenvatting

The increasing demand on high-framerate ultrasound and associated applications requires fast methods for image reconstruction. We introduce a plane-wave beamforming algorithm that is based on a mapping law in the Radon domain (r-space). The method offers easy tunability between computation time and image quality by reducing the number of projection angles in the applied Radon transform. The parallel nature of Radon transforms, and the existence of fast algorithms offer huge potential for fast implementations. To show further potential of the method, we assess the impact of nonlinear operations applied to the receive data in r-space for image enhancement and data compression purposes.
