Samenvatting
A nanocomposite composed of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with organophilic bentonite (OB) and nanohydroxyapatite (HA) was prepared by combining high-energy mill grinding with muffle heat treatment. This material was then characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, the adsorption capacity of UHMWPE/HA/OB was evaluated using methylene blue (MB) dye as a model adsorbate. After 20 h, the nanocomposite removed 48.8 mg·g −1 of MB. The results showed that this nanocomposite has a good adsorption capacity and can be effective in the removal of contaminants in aqueous media.
