Samenvatting

In this work, a novel class of super-elliptical antipodal Vivaldi antennas (SAVAs) with enhanced impedance bandwidth of 12.02 GHz is reported. Antenna geometry is designed and printed on a 170.7 mm × 134 mm PCB thin layer by making use of super ellipse equation. The antenna is low cost easy to fabricate with high directional end-fire radiation characteristics. The measured average total efficiency realized gain and front to back ratio is better than 65% 8 dBi and 19.8dB respectively across the operational frequency range (1.28-13.3GHz). A parametric study of four key geometrical parameters of the proposed antenna is made and reported. Measured results of fabricated antenna prototypes are also reported.
