Samenvatting

An EMC course has been based on a new approach to interference problems. Maxwell's laws in integral form are used to describe the current loops proper, the interference coupling and mitigation methods. The course covers as main subjects grounding, shielding, coupling of interference, mitigation methods, and protection of equipment. Fields and structures are considered in three dimensions. The differences with respect to circuit theory based on Kirchhoff's laws are also discussed. Two versions of the course exist, an elective student course of 27 lectures, and a shorter three-day version for industry. The student course has been taught since 1987 with an increasing attendance. It is scheduled in the third year of the curriculum
